Milestone NHRA Victory For Hines F ifty NHRA wins is a milestone achieved by only a select few in drag racing, and Screa- min' Eagle Harley-Davidson's Andrew Hines is now the first Pro Stock Motorcycle racer to venture there, following his most recent win at the NGK Spark Plugs Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte. Hines, who opened the season with a win in Gaines- ville, now has 50 wins in 88 final rounds to go with his five NHRA Championships. "This was a big day for our Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle team," Hines said. "There was definitely no shortage of emotions in my head every round today. To get to 50 wins is huge. Eddie [Krawiec, Hines' team- mate] and I were both creeping up on it, and I wanted to make sure I got there before he did. It's a huge relief." The Charlotte event features a unique four-wide format that is contested just twice a year at NHRA events. Pro Stock Motor- cycles race four at a time and the first and second-place finishers in each heat advance. Often confusing, Hines has managed to master the discipline and now has seven wins at four-wide races. His most recent success came when he outran Krawiec, Lucas Oil EBR's Hector Arana Jr., and promising second-year rider Ryan Oehler in the final round. "The day went pretty well," Hines said. "As it got hotter and hotter, the conditions got tough- er and tougher. Fortunately, our crew is good at persever- ing because not one round this weekend was similar to others. I IN THE WIND P28 Andrew Hines reached a career milestone when he took his 50 th NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle win at Charlotte.
