Bauman held the point for two laps, but Mees grabbed his first lead on lap three. Mees looked poised to make one of his patent- ed runaway moves, but Bauman stayed locked to his rear wheel. Bauman continued to press as the two leaders pulled a gap on Rob- inson, who was now alone in third. JD Beach (Estenson Racing/ Monster Energy, Yamaha MT-07) and Rob Pearson (RJ Perfor- mance/Hite Trucking/Country Sa- loon, Indian FTR750) applied early pressure on Pegram for fourth, but were eventually replaced by Sammy Halbert (Harley-Davidson Motor Company/Vance & Hines, Harley-Davidson XG750R), who BLUES TRAVELER As it turned out, Jared Mees was lucky to just be at the racetrack after suffering through travel problems. "Yesterday, me, Nichole and Hayden were sitting on the plane getting ready to back up and take off. We were due to land at four o'clock," said Mees. "All of a sudden, bam, there was some fuel leak on the airplane. We had to get off the plane so they could work on the plane. I got onto another flight because it was going to be delayed for so long. Then weather came in Atlanta, and my plane wouldn't come. Everything got canceled. I had to drive an hour and a half north to a different airport at 3 a.m. this morning to get on a 6 a.m. flight, and I landed at 10 o'clock. I was a little cloudy earlier on. I just did some old-school remedies to wake myself up and get going. I was able to pull it off. A couple Monster Energy drinks and we were good." CRASH FEST The AFT Pro Singles class con- tinues to be somewhat of a crash fest, as, once again, several riders had to be transported after several crashes. Fortunately, none required overnight stays at the hos- pital. A crash during the main re- sulted in two trashed motorcycles, but both riders—Kevin Stollings and Dylan Bell—were able to walk away, and the race was not red flagged. Briefly... Larry Pegram (72) put himself in the mix for a while.
