FLAT TRACK AMERICAN FLAT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3/APRIL 21, 2019 TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY/FORT WORTH, TEXAS P46 iii My Own Race: 1 JARED MEES 1ST AFT TWINS "Last year, I basically got a good start, went by Briar (Bauman) when he was on the Kawasaki, and took off," said Jared Mees. "This time, I had to wear the boy out. He rode so good. He was better than me in turns three and four early in the race. I saw what he was doing and moved down to his line, and that allowed me to maintain a little bit of a gap. I knew in three and four that I was missing something. I was so good in one and two. In three and four I was missing a little something. After he came back up again and got me, I tried his line a couple times when I was behind him. I started picking up a little bit of what he was doing. I thought if I could put this together, I could put him away. I was going better into one and off of two and going into three. I thought if I could get three and four figured out, I'd get this and we did. We made it work." 14 BRIAR BAUMAN 2ND AFT TWINS "I felt like I showed Jared some stuff a little bit too early. I thought I would stay behind him, then he made such a big mistake, I had to go," said Briar Bauman. "We got to racing, and he got back by me. I was pushing hard. I started making mistakes. That is where he is so good. He doesn't do that. I would make a bobble. A tenth here is everything. I would lose a tenth here and a tenth there. It is what it is, a good race. It's good to battle with him. He's strong on tracks like this. It's technical. This is something I've really struggled with in the past. To be strong here and at Atlanta, it means a lot to me as a racer. These were a couple of the weak ones. If we can do damage control here and get to some tracks that we really enjoy, I think we will be in a good spot." 44 BRANDON ROBINSON 3RD AFT TWINS "I got a crappy start. I missed a shift and somehow ended up in the wrong gear," said Bran- don Robinson. "I had to downshift coming into one on the first lap. Once I got to third, Jared and Briar had a pretty good gap. I felt like I maintained there with them for a while. I was just struggling to hold on to that pace. They slowly just inched away from me from about halfway on. I took a little glance back and saw that there was no pressure. I figured there was no way I was going to catch those guys. I thought I would just keep It on two wheels. I had a solid podium finish. I will just take the points. I felt good all day. All through practice Jared and I had similar times. I figured whoever got off first or if we got off in a gaggle, we would be together for the whole race. Hat's off to them. They figured something out for the main event. I'm happy with my result. It's a good start to the season. 95 JD BEACH 9TH AFT TWINS "I think it was a good night," said JD Beach (Estenson Racing/Yamaha). "We made the Main, so that was good. Our start was good, as well. I think it helped to get up with the guys up front and see what their bikes were doing compared with ours. I definitely saw some stuff. It's a new bike. We're making improvements. They're small, but they're there. We'll just keep working on it." 52 SHAYNA TEXTER 1ST AFT SINGLES "The bike handled awesome, and we had really good grip all day," said Shayna Texter. "I don't want to say it was an easier day as far as setups and everything goes, but it was definitely an easier day for me compared to Atlanta. It was awesome to get Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's first win and hats off to all of our partners, I'm super happy to be able to get it done here in Texas, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the year. It moved us up to sixth in the championship standings." 72 LARRY PEGRAM 5TH AFT TWINS "It's been a while since I've been up front. It's been a while since I've done anything," said Larry Pegram. "I felt good; I'm just riding too tight. I'm getting arm pump. Other than that, I had a quality night. We were quick all night. The bike just made it fun. David Lloyd, S&S, and Indian gave me a bike to ride, and it was so much fun. I'm not going to ride all of them. I'm going to ride the TT at the next one. I'll decide after that. If I keep enjoying myself, I'm going to keep riding. This place tonight got a little bit rough, but I was having fun because we were fast. David and (Jon) Cornwell are doing such a good job. I've got all my old buddies. It's like back when I was a Junior and sixteen years old and traveling around with my buddies in a van. It was great to see friends like Mike Hale and Willie McCoy tonight. It was just like old times."
