VOL. 56 ISSUE 15 APRIL 16, 2019 P83 was gaining places hand over fist. He started the last lap fourth, and finished it second, after some tough moves in the last corners. The pursuit was packed up close, from second to ninth within one second. Tony Arbolino (Snip- ers Honda) was sixth, the Sama KTM of rookie Raul Fernandez, Alonso Lopez (EG Honda) and Celestino Vietti (SKY VR46 KTM— another rookie). Second SKY VR46 rider Dennis Foggia, six seconds down, led the next pack in tenth, from rookie Ai Ogura, Marcos Ramirez, Lorenzo Dalla Porta and John McPhee (all Honda), with Binder's KTM taking the last point. With early title leader Kaito Toba crashing out, Masia took over the table, equal on points but with better placings than Canet at 45 points each. Dalla Porta (13th today) is next, equal with Antonelli at 32 points. CN MotoGP 1. Alex Rins (Suz) 2. Valentino Rossi (Yam) 3. Jack Miller (Duc) 4. Andrea Dovizioso (Duc) 5. Franco Morbidelli (Yam) Moto2 1. Thomas Luthi (Kal) 2. Marcel Schrotter (Kal) 3. Jorge Navarro (SU) 4. Mattia Pasini (Kal) 5. Alex Marquez (Kal) Moto3 1. Aron Canet (KTM) 2. Jaume Masia (KTM) 3. Andrea Migno (KTM) 4. Gabriel Rodrigo (Hon) 5. Niccolo Antonelli (Hon) It was a climax to another Moto3 race of changing fortunes, with long-time first-time leader Tatsuki Suzuki (SIC58 Honda) crashing out on lap 13, and erst- while front runner Darryn Binder (CIP KTM) dropping back to a distant 15th, and one point. Late-race leader Andrea Migno narrowly lost out to his Bester Capital KTM teammate Jaume Masia for second place. Masia, who took a maiden win at the last race, had come through from the middle of the pack. It was KTM's first podium lock- out since Le Mans last year. Inches behind was the best of the Hondas, Gabriel Rodrigo (Kommerling Honda) narrowly ahead of Niccolo Antonelli, whose SIC58 Honda teammate Tatsuki Suzuki had led from laps five to 12, only to slip off under the pressure of the pursuit. Pole starter Antonelli led the early stages, fighting off Rodrigo and fast rookie Alonso Lopez (EG Honda). But when Suzuki took over on lap five, he soon pulled a gap that stretched to almost a second. He was still in front at the end of lap 12, by when Migno had just taken over second from Canet, who had patiently picked his way forward. But the heat was on, and the front folded halfway around the next lap. Migno seemed to be in control, but now his tires were losing grip, and Lopez (who set the fastest lap) and Rodrigo were closing. At the same time, Argentine winner Masia, 18th on lap eight, in 14th, the pair getting ahead of Martin on the final lap. Brad Binder was an early retire- ment, coasting into the pits with clutch problems on the Red Bull KTM. Rookie Marco Bezzecchi (also Red Bull KTM) crashed out of the lesser points with six laps to go. Baldassarri retains a narrow points lead, 50 to Schrotter's 47 and Luthi (45); then Gardner (38) and Marquez (36). Moto3 Aron Canet took a fine tactical win, his first since 2017—the Sterilgarda KTM rider rising above a chaotically close brawl on the final lap to lead over the line by almost a full second. Aron Canet got the better of a frantic group behind to take the Moto3 win.
