SUPERCROSS
ROUND 15 / APRIL 13, 2019
DENVER, COLORADO / BRONCOS STADIUM AT MILE HIGH
P58
MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS
Marvin Musquin took
third but is losing
ground to Webb.
DEAN-OH
Dean Wilson was really finding some
good speed in the last few weeks, and
his results seemed to reveal newfound
confidence. Unfortunately, in Denver,
he was fighting his way up through
the field behind Ken Roczen when he
had a big crash that brought out the
red cross flags in the rhythm section
where he went down. It appears the
crash left him with a broken collar-
bone. Depending on the severity of
the injury, he could still be back in
time for the start of the nationals, but
it's likely he's out for the remainder of
the AMA Supercross championship.
FEWER PONIES
Whenever there are races at altitude,
the motorcycles end up down on
power. This is true of both classes,
but it's the most significant in the
250SX class. "We had an altitude
kind of race at Salt Lake last year,
and I didn't really remember how
much slower my bike was," Adam
Cianciarulo said. "I'd walked the track
and looked at that far rhythm section
after the start, and I'm like, 'Okay,
three out, table-over-single-over-
table. Then I went out there [for prac-
tice], and I'm like, 'Dude, I don't even
know if I'm going to be able to double
through here!' It just made it a little
more difficult in that sense." Even the
450SX guys had to adjust, but not to
the same extreme. "The bikes were a
big thing for us," Cooper Webb said.
"We were hitting first gear in a couple
places." Webb then commented on
the snow that came down in practice.
"When it started snowing, it was just
one of those things where you kind
of just had to laugh it off, go be a kid
in the snow, and go ride. But luckily
it didn't get too sketchy, and luckily it
stopped, but it got really hard-packed
and really, really slippery."
