then promptly smacked himself
down in race two. The Kentuck-
ian took the first encounter after
qualifying fourth behind Bobby
Fong (M4 Ecstar Suzuki), Bryce
Prince (Tuned Racing Yamaha)
and Richie Escalante (Hud-
son Motorcycles Yamaha), but
crashed on the final corner of
race two while fifth, eventually
remounting for 10th.
Instead, it was Fong who
emerged as the man to beat in
the Supersport category. The
former MotoAmerica Superbike
rider took second in race one
and won race two after a tense
struggle with former WorldSBK
In race two, fifth to 10th was
rounded out by Herrin, Lewis,
Anthony, May, Gerloff and
Petersen. Wyman was in conten-
tion for a top seven but crashed
out unhurt with a third of the
race remaining.
In the championship, Elias
leads with 45 points to Beaubi-
er's 41, with Scholtz third at 33,
Beach next at 29 and Anthony
fifth with 20.
SUPERSPORT
The man who would be Supers-
port king—Rickdiculous Racing
Yamaha's Hayden Gillim—laid
the smackdown in race one,
repairs/bodywork ripping. He
worked his way back up to ninth,
but it was far from an ideal start
to his 2019 sophomore Super-
bike season.
Fifth to 10th in race one was
headed by an ecstatic David An-
thony on the ADR Motorsports/
Fly Racing Kawasaki, ahead of
Ducati Panigale V4 R debutant
Kyle Wyman (KWR Ducati), M4
Ecstar Suzuki's Jake Lewis,
class returnee Jake Gagne
(Scheibe Racing BMW), Cam-
eron Petersen (Omega Moto
Yamaha) and veteran Geoff May
(Ameris Bank/ CCFOfficeSolu-
tions.com BMW).
Josh Herrin went
down while running
up front in his
Yoshimura Suzuki
Team debut.
