MOTOAMERICA FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 / APRIL 5-7, 2019 ROAD ATLANTA / BRASELTON, GA P80 racing in the Twins class, had a clear top speed advantage that Barnes used perfectly. "The Ducati really does run off the corner, but I was looking at the mile-an-hour, and those little Suzuki's seemed to be okay mile-an-hour-wise," Barnes said. "So I wouldn't say I had that much of an advantage in horsepower when it just seems to come off the corner a little bit better. Maybe I'm picking up the throttle earlier, I don't know. Regardless, the Moto Corse Performance Quarterly Racing Ducati is really good. Like I said on the podium, I think you might series champion Chris Parish (Ghetto Customs Suzuki) and a famous name in former Daytona 200 Champion, Michael Barnes on the Quarterley Racing Ducati Monster 797. It would be a dream start for Barnes and Ducati in the series, taking two wins on the semi- naked all black Monster as the veteran streaked clear to finish ahead 4.6 seconds of Curtis Murray (RBoM Racing Suzuki) and Parrish in race one, and 2.8 seconds up on Parris and 7.5 seconds up on Murray in race two. The Ducati, the only air-cooled machine currently Daniels held on for a pair of second places, while Samuel Lochoff, on one of only two Yamaha YZF-R3's on the grid, went from a DNF in race one two third in race two. Dominic Doyle (Dominic Doyle Racing Kawa- saki) took third in race one. TWINS CUP A new season of Twins Cup rac- ing kicked off with an enormous 37-rider grid taking the starter's gun. It was 2018 championship contender Kris Turner (Turner's Cycle/MotoUniverse Racing Suzuki) who took the pole with a 1:37.740 ahead if inaugural Andrew Lee was a double winner in Superstock 1000.
