SUPERCROSS
ROUND 13 / MARCH 30, 2019
NRG STADIUM / HOUSTON, TEXAS
P56
MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS
450SX Supercross victory of
the season, extending his points
lead to 17 over second-placed
Musquin with four rounds of rac-
ing left to run.
"It was a great night!" Webb
said, "but it was a tough night,
you know? You always forget
in the Triple Crowns how many
laps you end up doing and stuff,
so for me, it was good to go out
and get a win, which is great. I
knew the last one was going to
be tough, and I had a little gap,
so I kind of knew where I need-
ed to be."
Wilson was third overall, grab-
hap, crashing on his own in the
sand while trying to chase down
Webb. Wilson ended up sec-
ond, while Musquin recovered
for third, just in front of Seely
and Justin Bogle (Rocky Moun-
tain ATV-MC KTM), who had an
excellent ride for fifth.
In the final main of the night
which would determine the
overall winner, Webb didn't
push his luck. Musquin got the
holeshot while Webb ran sec-
ond, but Tomac relegated him to
third about halfway through the
main. Webb seemed content to
stay there and collect his sixth
for the first time since that first year of
supercross racing. "My rookie year,
I made pretty big strides forward,
and then I had that TBI at the end of
my rookie year, so it kind of set me
back, and honestly I've just been only
an 'outdoor' guy, really," Hampshire
said. "People kind of wrote me off in
supercross. I felt like I was in a really
good spot coming into the year. The
first couple of races were decent. I
had really good speed and I just kind
of fell into a slump, and the last four
weekends, I don't even think I had a
top-five. It was rough. So, we made
some changes with the bike, and
Briefly...
Dean Wilson was
in the hunt for the
overall victory. He
still ended up on the
podium for the first
time this year.
