VOL. 56 ISSUE 12 MARCH 26, 2019 P73
"I just put my head down and set
sail those last couple laps and
tried to be as smooth as possible
and everything just played out
perfectly. I'm stoked right now,
this is awesome!"
Bauman was by himself two
seconds behind Mees. On the
last lap, Vanderkooi got by Wiles
to match his fourth-place finish
from Daytona.
Carver just held off Sammy
Halbert (Harley-Davidson Mo-
tor Company/Vance & Hines,
Harley-Davidson XG750R) for
sixth. Larry Pegram (Indian Mo-
torcycles/Pegram Racing, Indian
FTR750) just kept rolling along
and finished eighth, a second
in front of Bryan Smith (Crosley
Brands/Howerton Racing, Ka-
wasaki Ninja 650), Rob Pearson
(RJ Performance/Hite Trucking/
Country Saloon, Indian FTR750)
and Bronson Bauman (Indian Mo-
torcycle/Progressive Insurance,
Indian FTR750).
AFT Pro Singles
Dalton Gauthier got a great start
in the 15-lap AFT Pro Singles
main, and the race for the win
Yamahas at Dixie Speedway. The
only Estenson Racing rider able to
make the show was Jake Johnson,
and he squeaked in via an eighth-
place finish. JD Beach didn't make
it through the semi in the Twins
class, nor did Colby Carlile in the
Singles class. "It was definitely a
rough night," said Beach, "but we
kind of knew coming into this race
we were going to struggle a little bit
with the track. We were just kind of
chasing the track all night and chas-
ing the bike. With how slick it was it
made it really hard to get grip."
Briefly...
Mees, Robinson and Henry Wiles battle
on the slick Dixie Speedway track.
