Full-time road racer Jake Lewis, aboard a Suzuki/M4 Exhaust Suzuki RM-Z450, just held off fast qualifier Oliver Brindley (Yamaha) for eighth. Brindley was also forced to use his provisional start card after falling while leading his semi and failing to qualify for the main. Ferran Cardus (Honda) Motorcycle Attorneys main event was won by Roof Systems rider Jesse Janisch (Yamaha YZ450F). Much like the Twins race, Janisch led every lap, win- ning by nearly three seconds. "To start Daytona with a vic- tory is amazing," said Janisch. "Last year, I left here with a second and that was a great way to start the season." Janisch's holeshot was fol- lowed by 15 near-perfect laps to win his fourth AFT Singles main event, the other three coming at the Peoria TT. Finishing a strong second was Dalton Gauthier (D&D Cycles/ FlatTrack.com, KTM 450 SX-F). "I was out of racing until about a Jeff Ward showed some speed when he took second in his heat race in the Singles class.
