by Blake Baggett (Rocky Mountain
ATV-MC/WPS KTM) and Musquin's
teammate and Webb, despite a big
mistake by Webb early in the race
that caused him to stall his bike.
A little past halfway, though,
Baggett and Webb fought their way
by Tomac, who dropped off the
pace significantly once relegated to
fourth place. Baggett then ended
up pressuring Musquin for the lead
in the later laps, but Musquin hung
on while Baggett kept Webb at bay
for second.
Webb lost five points to Musquin
in the championship chase, as
Musquin cut his teammate's points
lead to 14 with six rounds left to
MIX IT UP
We're into the final stretch of the
supercross championship with
only six rounds left to run and
Cooper Webb leads his teammate
Marvin Musquin by 14 points, with
Eli Tomac another seven points
back, and Ken Roczen another six
points back. Those are the only
four racers with a realistic shot at
the championship, and the final
six rounds go like this: Seattle is
next, and as of press time there's
an 83% chance of light rain on
Saturday night. After that comes
the Houston Triple Crown race,
followed by two new venues in
Nashville and the high-altitude of
Denver leading into the series'
only weekend off. After that,
there's the New Jersey round fol-
lowed by the series finale in Las
Vegas. "I think all the tracks mov-
ing forward have their own tech-
nicalities, and we go to two new
ones that we don't know much
about, so that'll be exciting," said
points leader Cooper Webb. "But
Seattle, you never know about
weather, and Houston is the Triple
Crown with good dirt, two new
ones, and Newark [New Jersey]
can be soft, and Vegas is hard, so
you kind of get everything."
Briefly...
For a while, Blake
Baggett (4) made
a run for the win
but ended up
slipping to third.
