SUPERCROSS ROUND 11 / MARCH 16, 2019 LUCAS OIL STADIUM / INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA P68 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS iii My Own Race: 15 DEAN WILSON 9TH 450SX Dean Wilson broke through for the first time since 2016 to win a 450SX heat race, flat-out beating championship contenders Marvin Musquin, Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac. "For me, I think my starts have been lacking a little bit," Wilson said. "The class is just so deep that a start is so important, so I made it off the start pretty good and was leading, made a slight mistake, Kenny [Roczen] got by me, and I was like, 'Okay, let's make this pass quick,' so I made the pass on him, and I could hear them the whole time, but my practice times show that I can run that pace, so it's good to get the win." In the main event, though, Wilson did get that good start he needed and ended up ninth. 2 COOPER WEBB 3RD 450SX Cooper Webb took a little while to get going in the Indy SX main event, and he even had a setback early on when he cased a jump in a rhythm section and stalled his bike, but late in the race he came on strong and looked like he might give a run at win number six of the year. Still, he made a highlight-reel pass on Eli Tomac late in the race and ended up a solid third. "Unfortunately, I had the stall there," Webb said. "I can't remember who I'd just passed, but I had the stall, and it definitely took some time to get go- ing. I had to roll the triple and stuff, but it was a good charge back. I put my head down, and I saw the guys in front of me were charging hard and going for it, so I knew I had to do the same to try to make positions and get up. Then I had the moment going into the bales and actually somehow passed Eli that way. It was a little wild ride. But I was stoked. It was a good charge. I got right up to the pack and just ended up third." 23 CHASE SEXTON 2ND 250SX EAST Chase Sexton said the whoops were his biggest challenge on the track. "The heat race they were fresh and they were actually really fun," Sexton said. "I went out there for the main event and I tried to jump them on the sight lap and it didn't work out. It was bad. I was really struggling to jump. I finally figured it out, I think fifth lap maybe, but by the time I got it down it was way too late and Austin was gone. It was a struggle the first few laps; I need to work on it at home, obvi- ously." 32 JUSTIN COOPER 3RD 250SX EAST Justin Cooper is putting together a solid rookie supercross season. "I had a good off-season, so I'm not going to say I didn't expect any of this, but things are defi- nitely going pretty smooth for me right now," Cooper said. "I'm just getting a lot of experience. It's different riding at the practice track for like eight months, but I only had one race coming into this season, so this is just valuable experience for me moving forward. Tonight wasn't the easiest night, but it was a good night for me, and I felt like I rode really good."
