SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS, AN FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P60 M arvin Musquin started the 2019 season with a knee injury that was bad enough to keep him off the bike until just before Anaheim 1, then toughed it out through the opening rounds of the series, unable to train like he wanted. Even through all of that, he put his KTM on the box in seven of the first 10 rounds of the season. Prior to the Indianapolis, Indiana, round—the 11th of 17 on Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series schedule—Musquin had not managed to lead a single lap. But there's just something about Indianapolis for Musquin. Musquin won the 250SX class in Indianapolis in 2013 and 2015, and won the 450SX last year. The added confidence of knowing he gets along well with the dirt seems to be all that was necessary for Musquin to put it all together and take his first win of the year. "When you win a couple of times in the same stadium, you obviously love it," the Red Bull KTM Team rider said. "Coming into the weekend, I definitely thought about it; I had a great race last year and I won, and I maybe won twice in the 250s, so coming into the weekend, I was definitely happy to be here, and excited, and like maybe it's time to win." Musquin lead another KTM sweep of the 450SX podium. Blake Baggett and points leader Cooper Webb joined him on the box. As for the 250SX East Champi- onship, there hasn't been a track on the schedule so far this year that Austin Forkner didn't seem to love, and the Monster En- ergy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki racer dominated his fifth main event of the year as his series heads into hiatus for a few weeks. 450SX Musquin came to Indianapo- lis ready to play. He qualified second during the day, and the added confidence of being at one of his favorite venues was enough to get him the start he needed in the main event.
