IN THE WIND P48 Smith Joins RMR R ichie Morris Racing (RMR) says that Cameron Smith has officially joined the team for its 2019 American Flat Track season. The Pennsylvania-born Smith finished 13th in points in 2018 and earned six top-10 finishes including a best finish of fifth at the Minne- sota Mile. "I couldn't be more excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the RMR/Al Lamb's Dallas Honda team," said Smith. "With the amount of support I have going into this season, I know we are go- ing to be successful on the track." RMR/Al Lamb's Dallas Honda and Smith will be backed with ad- ditional support from Pro Honda Oils and Tucker Powersports. "The AFT Singles class pro- duces some of the best racing anywhere, and Pro Honda Oils is looking forward to a podium-filled season with Cameron and Mikey representing Honda on the RMR CRF450Rs," said Mike Spencer, Manager of Parts Marketing at American Honda. "The dyno-proven horsepower advantage of Pro Honda HP4S full-synthetic engine oil will be a key fac- tor in maintaining a performance and reliability edge for the team throughout the season." "With the rapid growth in flat track racing, and all the excite- ment around the AFT series, we're pumped for the opportunity to re- connect with the RMR team," said Taz Sobotka, Senior Marketing Manager of Tucker. "It's an honor to support the RMR/Al Lamb Dal- las Honda team and its talented riders as part of the historical re- turn of Honda to flat track racing." "We are in the process of build- ing an incredibly strong program," said Richie Morris, Team Owner of Richie Morris Racing. "When you consider the experience and resources we've pulled for 2019— signing Mikey Rush and partnering with American Honda—adding the up-and-coming talent of Cameron to the RMR/Al Lamb Dallas Honda team delivers another level of excitement to our program. I have watched him for a couple of years; I believe that with the proper equip- ment and team, he will achieve success." CN Sanayei Dealing With Epstein-Barr D arian Sanayei, the only Ameri- can competing in this year's FIM Motocross World Champi- onship, revealed that he's been dealing with the Epstein-Barr virus ever since being diagnosed with the disease in December. Epstein-Barr is known for produc- ing flu-like symptoms and notori- ous for sapping one's energy. Sanayei, who rides for the Bike IT Kawasaki Team, competed in the opening round last week in Argentina. He placed 12th in the first moto but sat out moto two. Team owner Steve Dixon said in Instagram: Well we knew it would be a tough one for Darian this weekend but thankfully he got through unscathed. Those close to Darian will know he has been fighting the Epstein Barr virus since being diagnosed in December, so with not even a full moto under his belt or more than a few hours of testing before the crate left, we came here not knowing how it would turn out. Well, Darian toughed it out through the weekend show- ing good speed Saturday and pulled out of the qualifying race with some slight bogging issues and to save energy. Today we saw a great effort for 12th in race one, but Darian was done. The medics gave him the okay to race but he had no energy and crashed hard but with no injuries as such. He will recoup in USA for a week or so. CN Cameron Smith will ride an RMR Honda in AFT Singles this season.
