He was the top qualifier, was fast in his heat race (but didn't place well due to a fall in the second turn), and was a threat for the win in the main until those mistakes came creeping in. The big ones included running off the track, stalling his engine, and spinning out on the last lap while threatening Webb for second place. He had the second-fastest lap time of the race but, once again, being ultra-fast didn't materialize into a victory for the Frenchman. Marvin Musquin (25) had the speed to win but small mistakes cost him. It was a bad night for Honda's Ken Roczen and Cole Seely. "I hit neutral and stalled the bike," said Mus- quin of his most costly mistake. "I charged back to third and almost second. I'm a little bummed for sure, but I gave it my best." Baggett rode well all night but was probably a little disappointed, too, for not making the podium after leading the first three laps. Tomac, Webb and Musquin were just a little faster. Savatgy rounded out the top five. He was quick in the first half of the race, but his pace dropped off a bit later on, leaving him to take the checkered flag 28 seconds behind Tomac and 14 seconds behind Baggett.
