tures in the mid-70s and partly
cloudy skies made for perfect
racing conditions.
Zach Bell (Precision Concepts
Racing/Team Green Kawasaki)
took the early lead from a bob-
bled start, but Robert was close
behind him and studying his lines.
Bell was charging hard and set-
ting the fast pace while trying to
shake Robert but to no avail. After
three laps, Bell surrendered the
point to Robert, then had Oliveira
breathing down his neck. A few
laps later, Bell yielded second to
Oliveira and held down third for a
short while before pulling out of
the race.
It was clear sailing for Robert
for the rest of the 23-lap race.
Robert, who hadn't raced at
Havasu since 2013 because of
injuries, opened up a comfortable
lead and took the checkered flag
approximately a minute and a half
ahead of Oliveira.
"I followed Zach for a couple
of laps and learned his lines,"
said Robert. "I don't know what
happened to him, but he started
fading, so I rode around him, and
that was the last I saw him. It's
been a great start to the season.
