"Their obviously extraordinary talents are

In The Paddock –
Can Rossi Still Win?
Michael Scott's article about
Valentino Rossi celebrating
his 40th birthday was excel-
lent. But what strikes me most
interesting about Rossi is how
he transcends racing motor-
cycles. He is unique in the
overall package; a showman
way beyond racing motor-
cycles. Like Michael Jordan,
Ayrton Senna, Walter Payton,
Michael Schumacher, Bob
Hannah or Dale Earnhardt;
they all bring so much more to
the table than just their athletic
skills. They have a charisma,
persona and flamboyance,
which go beyond their noted
abilities. Their obviously
extraordinary talents are what
attract us initially, but it is
the memorable personalities
that captivate so many of us.
Thank you so much signore,
you have made MotoGP
something special, indeed.
Scott Uhrmann
He has more experience than
anyone else on the track. So
yes. He can still win.
Stephen H. Clemence
Maybe. As always it depends
on the competition, his bike's
competitiveness and luck. I
believe he has the talent and
ability needed. But there is a
reason the races are held—no
one knows who will win on a
given day.
Rich Burgess
If they get the Yamaha sorted
out and he gets good starts,
he will get another champion-
ship!
Will Gallagher
While I think all MotoGP cham-
pions have proven them-
selves, I have to constantly
admire every rider in the field
for their dedication. Some
don't have the best bikes,
some are competitive in more
narrow conditions than Rossi,
Dovi, Jorge or Marquez, but
each are riding their hearts
out, race after race. And for
the last 20 years, every one of
them can revel in having the
opportunity to share the track
with the likes of Rossi. Happy
Birthday, Vale!

Trunks and…
Myself and some riding bud-
dies rode in our underwear
one time. We were on the trail
and got caught in a storm.
So when we got back to our
trucks we took our wet riding
gear off and took a quick ride
in our underwear. We didn't
set any land speed records,
though.
