were next, with Alex Marquez
(EG-VDS) narrowly shading Luca
Marini (SKY VR46).
Day one leader Brad Binder
(Red Bull KTM) was dropped to
tenth, trying to make the most of
a difficult three days, concluding,
"If we can fix some small details
we will be okay for the race."
His new teammate Jorge Mar-
tin was the first rider outside the
1:58 bracket, less than a tenth
down and 11th fastest, making
him top rookie, two places ahead
of fellow Moto3 graduate Nico
Bulega (SKY VR46 Kalex).
Old tricks prevailed also in
Moto3, where returned Moto2
bad boy Romano Fenati was
also inside the circuit best lap at
2:05.285; with Snipers Honda
teammate Tony Arbolino barely
two tenths slower. The top 13
were inside one second of each
other.
Aron Canet, switched from
Honda to KTM, was third-fastest,
with the next-best KTMs ridden
by SKY VR46 teammates Dennis
Foggia and Celestino Vietti down
in ninth and tenth, almost a sec-
ond down. Vietti was top rookie,
with track first-timer Can Oncu
(Red Bull KTM) placed 23rd.
Hondas filled from fourth to
eighth: Lorenzo Dalla Porta, Nico
Antonelli, ex-KTM riders John
McPhee and Marcos Ramirez,
and Tatsuki Suzuki.
Another KTM-to-Honda star,
Gabriel Rodrigo, ended up 20th
after breaking his collarbone
on the second day, a doubtful
starter for the first race.
