IN THE WIND P34 Arizona Facing Across-The- Board Helmet Law I n Arizona, only motorcycle riders un- der the age of 17 are required to wear a helmet, but that could all change if H.B. 2246 becomes law. H.B. 2246 would require all motor- cyclists, passengers and ATV opera- tors to wear a helmet at all times while operating the vehicle. The bill also would require protective glasses, goggles or a transparent face shield, unless the vehicle is equipped with a windscreen. Riders and passengers, however, can opt out of the requirement by paying a fee when registering their vehicles. Revenue from the fee would be split between the Arizona Highway User Revenue Fund ($200) and the Spinal and Head Injuries Trust Fund ($300). CN H.B.2246 would require all motorcycle riders to wear a helmet in Arizona. Friese Out For Season V ince Friese will sit out the rest of the 2019 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. The Smartop/Bullfrog Spas Honda Team rider underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in his knee he suffered during qualifying at the Arlington Supercross, February 16. His recovery time is expected to be six months. With the team's Malcolm Stewart already out with a broken leg, they have recruited former team rider Mike Alessi to fill in at select races. "I'm sad for Vince because he was riding at a higher level than he has ever ridden," said team owner Mike Genova. "Through work ethic, determination and focus Vince's growth has been impres- sive to MCR, Honda and the entire race community. While Vince's standing just outside the top 10 was impressive, it was not indicative of where he could have been in the standings without weekly minor mishaps. I've been working with Vince on and off for 10 years and couldn't be more proud of his growth on and off the track." CN Vince Friese will miss the rest of the AMA Supercross season due to a torn ACL in his knee.
