Argubright Scores Again In
Texas National H&H
J
acob Argubright (Off-Road
Support/TBT Racing Kawa-
saki) rebounded from a mediocre
start to claw his way to the front
and win the Lone Star National
hosted by the Lubbock Trail
Riders, round two of the Kenda/
SRT AMA Hare & Hound National
Championship Series, Presented
by FMF, February 23-24.
Coupled with his triumph at
round one, he's off to his best
start ever and leads the series
points with a perfect 60 points
over Beta's Joe Wasson, the
Lone Star runner-up who has 46.
Two-time series champ Ricky
Brabec—a disappointed seventh
in his maiden outing on Honda's
new CRF450X—sits third in points
at 39, while Kendall Norman, the
defending series champ and last
year's winner, is fourth in points at
31 after finishing fourth in Texas.
"I'm more mellow this year," Ar-
gubright said. "I knew I had some
work to do on the start so I just
kind of went to work.
"After my start today, I was
thinking, 'Well, I really don't know
if I can do it, but it happened last
round so I think I can do it.' I kind
of paced myself a little bit. It was
a lot of turns! I'm tired of turning!
It was like a corner track for 90
miles. It was fun, though, but I'm
tired."
By the end of the second loop,
only holeshot winner Norman
(Chocolate Mountain Ranch/
ERA/Pro Circuit CRF450X), but
he crashed going over a boulder
on an off-camber sidehill, hand-
ing Argubright the lead.
From there, Argubright and
his Maxima/Galfer/Fly Racing
KX450 controlled the relent-
less final 30-mile loop with its
