I either go just a little bit over
my head and take a chance on
throwing it away, or I can back
it down just a little bit inside
my comfort zone, and if I get
caught and passed, that's it. But
luckily it didn't happen. I actu-
ally caught my breath toward
the end of the race even before
Jordon went down, and he re-
ally wasn't catching me much
anymore. I was pretty confident
that even if he didn't go down I
could've held him off."
Forkner now leads the title
chase by eight points over Coo-
per, and 10 over Smith, as the
250SX East series heads to its
third round, the Triple Crown in
Detroit this Saturday night. CN
Forkner was prepared to give
up the win had he been chal-
lenged, but mistakes from his
main rivals on the night, Smith
and Sexton, made it so that he
didn't have to.
"I mean, every rider has their
spots where you can see the
guys; doesn't matter if you're
looking for them or not, but you
can see them out of your pe-
ripherals," Forkner said. "I could
see them pretty much every lap.
At one point, Chase [Sexton]
and Jordon [Smith] were both
reeling me in, and I held my
breath for the first couple and
kind of got a stomach cramp,
and it made it even harder to
breathe. So I told myself, 'Okay,
