"My starts have been really good, and I was next to Joey [Savatgy] and Eli [Tomac], and we all pulled out close, and I was kind of in the middle, and I just came out seventh or eighth or so, kind of in the middle there," he said. "Most of my wins have been with holeshots, so it was good to dig again and really have to come from behind and get creative and make passes. In that position, I was able to learn from every guy I was able to pass, see what line was better here or there, so later in the race that helped me to still be click- ing off some good times." 25 MARVIN MUSQUIN 3RD 450SX Marvin Musquin was candid about his recovery from his off- season knee injury and his hopes to pick up a win soon. "I'm definitely looking for a first win, but in the big picture, being on the podium every single weekend the last five races is super-important, especially when I don't do really good in the heat race and put myself in a better position in the main and then land on the podium," Musquin said. "It's good and not good. I wish the riding was a little bit better. It was good for a little bit, then I started to tighten up, and started losing posi- tions and went back to third. I salvaged third tonight, and it's good, considering the heat race. We'll just move forward and try to be stronger. I'm still trying to get better and stronger, and the off-season was off for me, so I'm still building." 14 COLE SEELY 6TH 450SX "I'd say the day went pretty well—overall," Cole Seely said of his day. "I'm pretty happy with everything from qualifying all the way down to the main event. Times were really close in qualifying, which is cool because it shows there's a lot of talent in the class but it also means if you're a tenth off, you're way back. I was happy to qualify in the top five, and in the heat race it obviously felt good to lead some laps and win the thing; it was also cool that Kenny won his heat. The main went pretty smoothly. I got off to a pretty bad start, but I was able to make some passes right away—like five guys in the first lap. I managed to eventually get into sixth and ride there for most of the race. I didn't really get too tired at the end, but after three rough weekends and seeing things finally coming together, I didn't want to push the issue too hard. For most of the race, the top six were running a similar pace, and it felt good to actually have sight of the leaders." 22 CHAD REED 11TH 450SX Chad Reed was off the pace in Texas. He qualified 15th, finished fifth in his heat race and started off the main event in 10th place. He actu- ally went backwards from there, dropping back to 13th at one point before salvaging 11th at the finish. "It was a tough weekend," he said. "The speed wasn't there for some reason. I'm disappointed in my performance. I know that I'm better than 11th place."
