SUPERCROSS ROUND 7 / FEBRUARY 16, 2019 AT&T STADIUM / ARLINGTON, TEXAS P54 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS 450SX Up to this point, in the stan- dard, single-race main events that Webb has won, he has done it from the front. He's been out front, or close to it, from the very start of those races. But at round seven of the 17-round championship at AT&T Stadium, Webb came from deep in the field to make a pass in the final few feet of the 20-minute-plus-one-lap main event to take his fourth win of the series and take over the points lead. Roczen grabbed the hole- shot to start the 450SX main event, but Tomac took the lead from him right away and looked ready to sprint away, but Roczen was able to reel STAYING POSITIVE Ken Roczen seems to keep finding the positives despite having come close but just not getting the wins lately. "Obviously, I want the win, especially since earlier I said, 'If the win is right there, I'll be happy to take it,' and it was right there, and I didn't. But honestly, I'm having a lot of fun. I haven't been in a champion- ship chase in a long time. We're all super-close, and most important, it's really good racing. We've been doing good with our starts and keeping our head down, and obviously good rac- ing. There's always room to improve, but all in all, I'm just doing my thing. I don't have a win yet, but even com- ing into this race, there's a reason we had the red plate, and we've got to keep it that way. The tough part is, like Cooper [Webb], he's being consistent and getting wins on top of that, so there's not a whole lot of room for error, that's for sure." LEARNING YEAR Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Thomas Covington had to go to Europe to prove himself worthy of an AMA fac- tory ride, and he slugged it out over there for years until he started winning. He has what it takes to fight through adversity. That said, his weakness has always been supercross, and it seems that's still the case. The team is hoping he'll learn from supercross this year, be healthy for outdoors (where he has what it takes to contend for the cham- pionship) and then come into AMA Supercross in 2020 looking for a title. But he didn't qualify for the main event in Arlington, which is unacceptable for a factory racer, and he knows it. "It Briefly... Roczen led most of the race until Webb got him right at the finish.
