came up on a downed rider, who was momentarily unconscious, and stopped with him. Devlin would later be credited a por- tion of his time back, finishing in second on the day, 57 seconds behind the blistering pace Fer- derer had set. Reigning SERA Champion Trent Whisenant (FXR/Gas Gas) stuck close to the lead group, losing only a few seconds per test and keeping a podium for the day in sight with James King (Answer/ Kenda Yamaha) finishing fourth, looking to make his second ISDE appearance in a row. Nate Rector (Moose Racing) finished another 25 seconds back on the day after a slow start the first few tests. Day two saw another 200 riders added to the order for the start of the SERA racing season, which meant the course would deteriorate much quicker. Rain was also in the forecast for the day, which could also play a big factor. Ferderer, once again, took the first test win and traded a few more test wins with Devlin though out the day. While each day counts for indi- vidual points towards qualifying, both days combined counted for the overall award, which meant Devlin would have to put 58 sec- onds on Ferderer by the end of the day to earn the top step of the podium. Going into the final test Ferderer had the advantage, but Devlin laid down the second-fast- est test time of the entire week- end to take the overall victory by less than 15 seconds. IN THE WIND P40 Devlin Wins ISDE East Mississippi Qualifier T he first of three rounds of AMA East ISDE Qualifiers got underway over the February 16-17 weekend in the red sands and thick pine trees of central Missis- sippi in Meridian. The Meridian Motorcycle As- sociation hosted two grueling tests run three times each for two days of tight racing between the top riders on the East Coast. The event would also coincide with the start of the Southern Enduro Riders Association (SERA) En- duro Championship. Day one saw Nate Ferderer (Fly Racing/KTM 250 XCF) win the first 5.5-mile test of the weekend, but Thorn Devlin (GasGas USA) kicked into gear after that taking the next four test wins in a row. On the sixth and final test, Devlin Rector stepped up his game, finishing fourth on the second day but riding consistently enough to take the final spot on the podium. ISDE hopeful Anthony Krivi recovered from a rocky start on Saturday to finish third on Sunday and fourth for the weekend, with Whisenant wrapping up the top five overall. For riders to qualify to rep- resent the U.S. ISDE team in Portugal this year, their best four of six days are counted (two days per round). The next round will be returning to Battle Creek, Michigan, April 6-7. CN Erek Kudla OVERALL 1. Thorn Devlin (GG) 2. Nate Federer (KTM) 3. Nate Rector (Yam) 4. Anthany Krivi (Yam) 5.
