Rennie Scaysbrook and the
Aprilia Tuono 1100 should be
a strong force on America's
Mountain this year.
T
eam Cycle News will once
again be a contestant in
the Heavyweight category for
the 2019 Pikes Peak Interna-
tional Hill Climb, and will be
teaming with Piaggio Group
Americas and Aprilia.
Road Test Editor Rennie
Scaysbrook will be piloting
a Tuono 1100 Factory in the
classic event, as he attempts
to go one better than he did
in 2018, where he came up
0.069 of a second short of
the overall victory.
The project will coincide
with a number of stories and
varied content here at Cycle
News as we take a bone-
stock Tuono and turn it into
a Heavyweight contender to
take on the likes of reigning
champions Ducati.
"I am absolutely ecstatic to
take on the PPIHC challenge
with Aprilia," said Scay-
sbrook. "I know the Tuono
1100 Factory is a jewel of a
motorcycle and should prove
a serious contender for the
Heavyweight honors. I'll be
putting absolutely everything
into this—I can't wait to get
started."
We'll have our first install-
ment of the 2019 project
coming next week in Cycle
News. This is going to be a
fun project! CN
