IN THE WIND P32 Alessi Heading Back To Canada M ike Alessi says he's heading back to Canada again for the 2019 season. He will compete in just the motocross por- tion of the Rockstar Triple Crown Championship, which is made up of arenacross, supercross and motocross. The motocross portion con- sists of eight rounds and gets underway June 1. However, Alessi will return to Canada with a new look having signed with a new team—Honda GDR/Fox Racing. Previously, Alessi rode a Monster Energy/Alpinestars Kawasaki. Long-time backer of Alessi's, Smartop and its owner Mike Genova, will also support Alessi's efforts up north. CN AMA Bans CBD Sponsorship/ Advertising A fter two incidents involving CBD (cannabidiol) sponsorship in AMA Supercross this year, the first with Dean Wilson at Anaheim 1 and the second with Chad Reed two weekends ago at Minne- apolis, the AMA officially put the skids on all CBD advertising. PHOTO: ROB KOY lowing notice to riders and their teams. - The law regarding CBD products, including their lawful sale, possession, advertising, and sponsorship of them, is unsettled. Notwithstand- ing the change in federal law in December 2018, there are no federal regulations in place yet on how these products can be advertised or promot- ed. CBD and related products are not completely legal in all 50 states and there are various restric- tions on their sale and promotion. - Signage or promotional displays for CBD-relat- ed products will not be allowed in the pit areas. - No rider will be allowed to race with logos or other promotional displays on their person, their uniform, their gear, or on their bike. - The AMA will be enforcing this at inspection points and at any other time a violation is brought to the attention of Feld Motor Sports or the AMA. Riders will be required to cover or remove any logo before being allowed to race and at no time during the event is the display of CBD-related logos permitted. Failure to comply with this will result in a rider being removed from a race or denied entry. - In addition, sanctions may be applied pursuant to the AMA Supercross rulebook for any rider who violates this policy. - This will remain in effect until further notice.
