CN III VOICES W H A T Y O U A R E S A Y I N G "I did not renew my Videopass for WSBK this year, and it looks like I might regret that!" Bowers DQ'd I agree with [Tyler Bowers] regard- ing the inconsistency of the AMA officials. This is an aggressive sport and aggressive passes are part of that. I myself have done it and others have done to me. Define the line that shalt not be crossed in advance and then enforce it regardless of who it is or what the outcome was. [Zach] Osborne's winning pass on Joey Savatgy in Vegas was way worse, yet they gave him the championship, as they should have, because he definitely earned it that night. Let them race! Otherwise we might as well have OSHA (Occupa- tional Safety and Health Administra- tion) running the damn thing. Andy Kirker I also think Osborne should've been [disqualified]. He had nothing to lose, so he took him out and the AMA set a precedent that it's okay to take a rider out for the title. MX has contact but collisions should be penalized. A committee should be established consisting of reps from Feld, AMA and each factory team. They should establish racing guidelines and penalties. They need a system where any rider can lodge a complaint and the committee could make a ruling and decide the penalty. Violently separating a rider from his motorcycle is dangerous and should be an automatic penalty. Bowers just might bring this sport into the 21st century. Ken Bateman I like to see the racers give 110%! It makes for some memorable, defin- ing and exciting race action! I have no dog in the fight, but it looked to me like Tyler went right through Justin, making no attempt to turn out. Reminds me a little, of Damon Bradshaw days! No of- fense, Damon. Love all of you guys for giving us a show! Doing the right thing will not always be what's popular, but do it anyway, and be a stand-up athlete and role model. Earl Wear CBD And Sponsorship It's time for the whole criminal jus- tice system to move out of the dark ages on this. Alcohol and cigarettes have caused far more harm than cannabis. Other comments cor- rectly state the health issues relating to energy drinks, as well, (or for that matter, plain old sugar), yet their advertising is plastered everywhere. And in the case of cannabi- diol (CBD), it's known to be highly beneficial for medical use while having no mind-altering effects. Our bodies literally have cannabi- noid receptors embedded in our cell membranes that are activated to create these benefits. I wrote a letter appearing in Cycle News decades ago about this regarding penalties incurred by Anthony Gobert for using marijuana at a time when racers commonly indulged in alcohol consumption after a day at the track. Yet, here we are—still. On the one hand, I can under- stand the AMA's hesitancy based on our outdated laws regarding this substance, but it's time to move on in "the land of the free" and stop the in- sanity regarding cannabis products. Stephen Farenell Good on AMA. Supercross should remain a family friendly sport that rejects drug sponsorships. Kevin Burner WorldSBK Testing I would say that the new Ducati is going to be dominant, but there are no other Ducatis near [Alvaro] Bautista. Maybe they're sandbag- ging a little bit and Bautista didn't get the memo. Howard Halterman I did not renew my Videopass for WSBK this year, and it looks like I might regret that! Obviously Bautista's perfor- mance is outstanding (and weirdly, no other Ducks near him). But the Sykes/BMW performance—holy cow! And the Yamahas are just a click behind. And I'll probably get grief for this comment, but why didn't Kawasaki bring in a Young Gun (hint: Razgatlioglu) alongside Rea? Haslam is obviously still competitive but I'm going to exercise some age and cultural discrimination and say, "great—they've got the British Baby Boomer fans covered." Lost oppor- tunity, KHI. It's a global economy. Bob Close P6 Letters to the editor can be sent to voices@cyclenews.com. Published letters do not necessarily reflect the position of Cycle News.
