IN THE WIND P36 BELL DOMINATES TAFT AMA GP T hough Zach Bell and the rest of the Team Green/Chaparral Motorsports/Precision Concepts riders are concentrating on other series this year, they proved they haven't forgotten how to ride a traditional grand prix like those found in the FMF AMA Na- tional Grand Prix Championship (NGPC) Series. The Honolulu Hills GP, hosted by the Dirt Diggers Motorcycle Club, saw Bell lead a Precision Concepts 1-3, with teammate Blayne Thompson taking a solid third place behind Johnny Camp- bell Racing (JCR) Honda's Trevor Stewart, the defending series champ. Emphasizing the team's strength, Clay Hengeveld ran his number-one plate in the Pro II class and came from behind to claim second behind first-time winner Ciaran Naran with Austin Serpa taking third. "I love coming back to this round! This was where I got my first off-road win so I love coming back here," Maxima/ Pro Circuit/FastHouse KX450- mounted Bell said. "I got off to a really good start—I think I was second behind Trevor and made the pass right away and rode my own race from there and had fun out there. The track was really good. With that little bit of rain we had, it made the dirt perfect." Stewart got the jump off the Zach Bell got the lead early from eventual runner-up Trevor Stewart and won handily for the third year in a row. Though Taft was only Ciaran Naran's second GP, he's no novice. He won the Pro II class.
