ROAD 2 RECOVERY HELPING SAVAGE
O
n January 14, 2019, Blake Savage crashed while rid-
ing at a private supercross track in Mesquite, Nevada,
sustaining a cervical-spinal-cord injury due to fractures to
his C6 and C7 vertebra.
As a result of his injuries, Savage has no mobility from
his mid-chest down to his lower extremities but does have
upper-body movement with some limitations. He has been
admitted into the in-patient rehabilitation program at Dixie
Regional Medical Center, in St. George, Utah, where he
is working with therapists daily on core-strength, trunk
control and pelvis movement. Savage is expected to be
released in 2-3 weeks to begin the long and extensive
outpatient rehabilitation program.
Road 2 Recovery has started a R2R Fund where you can make a tax-deductible donation towards his
cause by clicking here. All funds raised will go towards Savage's recovery and help alleviate his mounting
medical bills. If you're unable to support financially, you can help by sharing his page. You can also leave
a positive message for him and his family to read on his R2R Fund page.
Savage remains positive in his recovery and has a great support system around him. He is tackling this
challenge like the true athlete his is, keeping high spirits and a strong drive to achieve his next goals. CN

NAMBOTIN GETS IT STARTED
T
he enduro season in Spain got underway,
February 2-3, with the 10th running of the
Bassella Race, held in the small mountain
village of Bassella (Lleida), Spain. More than
1000 riders signed up to do battle and when
the dust had settled, Christophe Nambotin,
riding a GasGas EC300 two-stroke, had
emerged as the overall winner.
The GasGas Enduro Factory Team rider
finished the three-hour-plus race a little more
than three and a half minutes ahead of Cris-
tobal Guerrero (Yamaha) and six minutes ahead
of third-place finisher Josep Garcia (KTM).
Johnny Aubert (GasGas) and Manuel Letten-
bichler (KTM) rounded out the top five overall.
"This year I had aimed for the goal of winning the Bassella and was very motivated
to do it," Nambotin said. "I fought fiercely throughout the race and I gave everything
I had in the two laps. The rivals did not make it easy for us, but we have set a good
rhythm that led us to victory. I am very happy for myself and for the whole team." CN
