ITALY DQ'D FROM 2018 MOTOCROSS
OF NATIONS
T
he silver medal winning team at the 2018 Mo-
tocross of Nations has been disqualified from
the event. Team Italy, which finished second to The
Netherlands at RedBud (Buchanan, Michigan), was
disqualified after fuel samples taken from one of its
team riders' motorcycle, Michele Cervellin, "attest-
ed non conformity with the FIM fuel specifications."
As a result, the team has been disqualified.
Eight motorcycles surrendered full samples at
the event, including Justin Barcia's, Eli Tomac's and
Aaron Plessinger's motorcycles. All of them passed
except for Cervellin's.
No appeal against the decision of the FIM Race
Direction has been lodged before the International Disciplinary Court
(CDI) within the set deadline.
The updated results have every team moving up a position behind the
French squad, which means The Netherlands has been awarded the
silver medal and Great Britain the bronze. Team USA is now fourth.
Random fuel testing at the 2018
MXdN found one of Team Italy's
bikes to be out of compliance.
As a result, Italy was DQ'd from
the event and their silver medal
given to The Netherlands.
