SUPERCROSS ROUND 4 / JANUARY 26, 2018 OAKLAND-ALAMEDA COUNTY COLISEUM / OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA P56 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS iii My Own Race: 25 MARVIN MUSQUIN 2ND 450SX Marvin Musquin crashed early in the main while pressuring Webb for the lead, then capitalized on mistakes to move back into second late and pressure Webb. "I mean, it's frustrating," Musquin said. "I rode really well, and I'm really happy, but I mean, it could've been mine tonight. But it didn't happen. No excuses. I went down, but I was the fastest. To be able to pass [Eli] Tomac back, and [Ken] Roczen. I don't know if Roczen had an issue in the whoops or something, but I was able to get through them easier, and I was more consistent, too. [Blake] Baggett was behind me pretty fast, too, but I'm a little bit bummed. Finishing right behind Cooper [Webb] is not fun, but it's good that I'm making progress. Second place is good—it's a lot of points—but I want to win, for sure." 22 CHAD REED 9TH 450SX "I really liked the Oakland track layout," said Chad Reed (JGRMX Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing) There were nice whoops and ruts. Unfortunately, I again struggled with one-lap speed, but I felt like I would be okay for the heat race and main event. I had a decent start in the heat race and finished fourth. I was really enjoying the main event and began to find a rhythm. I was going to try and make some moves forward. Then I landed on Plessinger's bike when he crashed in a blind spot. I fought back to ninth. I'm entering a new week with confidence. I have the pieces, but I need to start out the day better and carry that into the night show. We're heading to one of my favorite races of the series this weekend. San Diego has always been a solid hunting ground for me." 94 KEN ROCZEN 5TH 450SX "[It] started off pretty good," Ken Roczen (Honda HRC) said of his day. "I felt super good in practice and was super-happy with the bike. I was confident going into the night show and happy to have first gate pick. We had a decent heat race, finishing in second. We had to do some little bike adjustments, just as the track changed. I didn't have a great start at all but fought my way up to second for a bit. I was struggling in the whoops and started feeling uncomfortable and unfortunately, I went back to fifth. That's not ideal but we're leaving healthy. We lost the points lead but only by a couple points; it's a long season, so if we can take this as our worst race, that's pretty good. It's time to regroup and hope- fully get back on the podium in San Diego." 14 COLE SEELY 11TH 450SX Cole Seely (Honda HRC) showed a ton of potential through out the day and night but a small crash in the main event put a damper on everything. "I'm pretty happy with how today went overall," he said. "Obviously, my result in the main event didn't show it as much, but we made a lot of progress. I'm not always the best at qualifying but today I was feeling good and able to get the second-fastest lap. My heat was good too. I was about fifth off the start and finished second so again had a good gate pick going into the main. I was running top-10 in the main when I went down in the sand and got a handlebar to the side. I did what I could to make up as many positions as possible but could only get to 11th. The season is still early and I know I'm building each week, but I really want to get back toward the front and be battling for podiums."
