FEBRUARY 1, 1989
Jeremy McGrath was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 20 years
ago for winning the first Phoenix Supercross at Bank One Ballpark. It was
his first win of the season; Ezra Lusk had won the prevoius two; Nathan
Ramsey won the 125cc main for the first time of his career… Alan
Cathcart tested Aaron Slight's Castrol Honda RC45… BMW's Richard
Sainct won the Total Granada-Dakar Rally; he was first overall, four-
wheel included… We interviewed road racer Kurtis Roberts.
We featured motocross racing from both coasts 30 years ago. Bob Hannah
won the Florida Winter-AMA race at Dade City, and Jeff Ward stole the
show at the CMC Golden State Series race at Sunrise Valley Cycle Park
(Adelanto, California)… We featured an interview with former 125cc World
MX Champion Dave Strijbos… Jean-Michel Bayle won the opening
round of Goat Breker's inaugural
California Winter MX Series from
