SUPERCROSS ROUND 4 / JANUARY 26, 2018 OAKLAND-ALAMEDA COUNTY COLISEUM / OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA P58 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS iii My Own Race: 46 JUSTIN HILL 14TH 450SX "I had a huge endo over a berm in the second qualifying practice," said Justin Hill (JGRMX Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing) of his day, which wasn't good due to a big crash. "My injuries are yet to be determined. Needless to say, I could barely ride throughout the night program. My left shoulder was getting considerably worse as the racing continued. On the bright side, we had excellent gains with the bike setup before the big crash." 39 COLT NICHOLS 3RD 250SX WEST 250SX West points leader Colt Nichols had another solid night in Oak- land, but he let the race win get away from him after pressuring rival Adam Cianciarulo for the lead early in the main event. "I just felt like I kind of let it slip away in that main event," Nichols said. "I was pressur- ing Adam early in the main and I made a few of my own little mistakes, and Dylan [Ferrandis] was able to catch me and pass me. But hats off to these two guys; this track was very, very demanding. It was a very high-heart-rate track. It was tough. I kind of fell off a little bit, and that's just on me." 61 GARRETT MARCHBANKS 8TH 250SX WEST At Oakland, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Garrett March- banks grabbed his best non-mud-race finish of the season so far in his rookie year. "This race was a great learning experience," Marchbanks said. "The track was difficult but it allowed for me to see where I could improve. It was easy to make mistakes and I think I kept mine to a minimum. After being able to tackle this track, I'm really looking forward to getting back out there in San Diego." 36 MICHAEL MOSIMAN 7TH 250SX WEST The lone racer under the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna awning Michael Mosiman didn't let the pressure get to him. The SX rookie ended up snatching his best finish of the year. "The day was pretty good," Mosi- man said. "Practice went well and I finished really well in my heat race. In the main event, I came into the first turn really bad, about 17th, and by the end of the first lap I had made my way up to fifth. I passed into fourth for a bit and the pace is really fast up there! It's something I need to work on, learning to run that pace for a whole main event. I made a mistake and got together with another rider, which put me back a few spots and I ended up making my way back to seventh, which is the best supercross finish of my career so far. Now I have something to build off of going into San Diego next week and we'll try to get into the top-five." 64 JIMMY DECOTIS 15TH 250SX WEST "[It] was looking like a promising night for the whole JGRMX Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing Team," Jimmy Decotis who looked good all day and night—until the main event came around. "I qualified third in both of my practices and won my heat race. I was feeling really comfortable and fast on my Suzuki RM-Z250. Unfortunately, I got off to a bad start in the main event and crashed in the whoops. It took me a while to get going and back on the track.
