SUPERCROSS ROUND 3 / JANUARY 19, 2019 ANGEL STADIUM OF ANAHEIM / ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA P50 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS iii My Own Race: 1 JASON ANDERSON 9TH 450SX Jason Anderson came pretty close to winning round two, but at round three he went 6-6 in the first two main events before a lap-one fall in the final main left him scrambling to finish 17th. He ended up ninth overall and is seventh in the points standings after three rounds. "I was able to get a top-10 overall," said Anderson. "It wasn't a horrible weekend, but I'm going to keep pushing and I'll try to be better next weekend." 25 MARVIN MUSQUIN 2ND 450SX Marvin Musquin was fastest in qualifying and ended up a solid second overall, going 3-2-2 on the night, despite a knee injury suffered in the off-season. "I just go race by race. This week I stayed in California. The weather was pretty bad, but I take the whole week off the bike and try to not hurt the knee too much on the bike. It was a great race. I mean, three main events like that is pretty intense, but my starts were awesome. There are three winners in three weekends in the three races, so this championship is awesome. It's really tough, but like I said, just go race by race." 3 ELI TOMAC 3RD 450SX Eli Tomac overcame some early struggles to win the final main event of the night. In the first main, Tomac was moving forward but his forward progress stalled out trying to get by Webb and ended with him falling into the clutches of Musquin, finishing fourth. In the second main, Tomac was more like his old self, recover- ing from a 12th-place start to climb up to fourth. Then he grabbed the early lead in the final main and ran away with it. "It was just like a building process through those three mains there," Tomac said. "One and two I was just kind of riding around—[that's] what I felt like. I wasn't attacking, I wasn't getting my flow. And then third one there just obviously got the holeshot, was in clean air really. Was hitting the whoops better, had a good flow through, jumping through, like the little triple-triple combination. Then getting through the big rhythm. I mean, it was re- ally technical tonight. Almost to the point where it was a little bit scary on some of those tabletops because you're jumping so far into the air. It's good though. I got comfortable with them toward the end and it was just awesome. It was a good building process through the day and happy to get that first win there." 34 DYLAN FERRANDIS 2ND 250SX WEST Dylan Ferrandis scored one main-event win on the night and ended up tied for the overall win, but second on the tiebreaker. "I rode bad," Ferrandis said. "I didn't deserve to win tonight. Shane rode really good and he won, so congrats to him. I'm really frustrated by myself. It's not the place I want to be. We'll see next weekend. We'll try to rebound. I'm really unhappy about myself and really disappointed, so we'll see. We'll work out this week and try to understand why I don't win and we'll see." 92 ADAM CIANCIARULO 5TH 250SX Adam Cianciarulo was fast at Anaheim 2, but crashes cost him dearly. In the first main, he crashed out of the lead early, then he fell trying to come through the pack in the second main before leading again in the third main and settling for second behind Shane McElrath. He went 4-14-2 for fifth place. "It was a rollercoaster night to go from being out front to falling to finishing on the podium," Cianciarulo said. "I really want to put the mistakes behind me and I think with three races, I was able to show that I could still be up front, even on an off-night. We are still in the hunt and will be working hard to make sure we get back on top."
