IN THE WIND P58 SUZUKI'S HAYABUSA LIVES ON T he Suzuki Hayabusa isn't dead, despite what you may have seen or read elsewhere. That's the word coming from Suzuki Motor of America, as the company confirms the legendary 'Busa will continue production for the North American market despite being discontinued in the European sector due to tighten- ing Euro 4 emissions. "From its inception 20 years ago, the iconic Hayabusa motor- cycle has been a visually—and technologically-stunning repre- sentation of Suzuki's commitment to motorcycle performance," said Kerry Graeber, Suzuki's Vice President, MC/ATV Sales, and Marketing. "Literally tens of thou- sands of riders have owned this beloved model and it continues to be sought after even today. GT riders, drag racers and custom- izers worldwide are obsessively devoted to the Hayabusa and we are looking forward to con- tinuing its legacy. Suzuki Motor Corporation's commitment to this model means a new generation of motorcyclists can experience the unmatched performance and style that the Hayabusa is known for globally." The Hayabusa cel- ebrates 20 years in 2019, making it one of the longest-serving members in the history of Suzuki street bikes. Despite the speed freak failing to meet the Euro 4 emissions standards, we'll likely get a few more years out of the current 'Busa before a new one (as has been rumored for years) comes along to take its place, or Suzuki decides to scrap the model entirely. CN SUPERPRESTIGIO CANCELED T he 2018 running of the Superprestigio flat track, that was scheduled to run in Paris, France, December 15, was canceled. The organizers cited a lack of MotoGP entries forced the cancelation of this year's race, not wanting to "disappoint the public," according to Motosports.com. Star racer and two-time winner of the Superprestigio Marc Marquez could not at- tend because of his bum shoulder, which he plans to have operated on this winter. The organizers, however, plan on running the event in 2019. CN Despite getting taken off the market in other parts of the world, the Suzuki Hayabusa will still be sold in the U.S.
