We pictured Heath Voss on the cover 20 years ago for winning the
opening round of the AMA/PJ1 Arenacross Championship in De
Moines… Five-time champ Mick Doohan starred in our 1998 Road
Race World Championship season review… We tested the 1999 Ducati
ST4… Honda Motor celebrated its 50th anniversary in Tokyo and we
covered the festivities from Motegi… Lance Smail was the big winner at
the Lake Elsinore Grand Prix.
We pictured a fully customized Harley-Davidson on the cover 30 years. It
was to give you gift ideas for Christmas. The bike was customized by Jeff
Hamilton and built by Bartels' H-D and was being sold by Neiman-Marcus
for $25,000. Also pictured in the photo was culinary celebrity Wolfgang
Puck… Scott Russell, David Sadowski and Doug Polen were the big
winners at the Suzuki National Cup Series at Braselton… Jeff Russell
won the final National Enduro of the year in Illinois.
