STEWART TRIUMPHS AT LAKE ELSINORE GP 50TH ANNIVERSARY T his year marked the 50th anniversary of the Lake Elsinore Grand Prix, and racers converged for three full days packed with races for everything from motorcycles and ATVs to UTVs and trophy karts. There were classes for vintage bikes, two-strokes, four-strokes, first- responders, military and even a three-person family team race ("Generations"). But, of course, the highlight of the weekend—in homage to the great Steve Mc- Queen—was, the Harvey Mush- man 100-miler. Stewart pitted early, handing the lead to Seeds for a lap, but Stewart was able to regain the point when Seeds headed in for his pit stop. From there, he main- tained a comfortable gap, even after a crash in the final laps of the two-hour race, shortened from three hours due to the rap- idly disappearing daylight. "I got taken out by a lapper on the second-to-last lap, which was pretty scary," said Stewart. "My bike was in a weird spot and I really had to get up fast, so I IN THE WIND P24 Justin Seeds (213) got out to an early lead, but Trevor Stewart (2) eventually claimed the win in the Harvey Mushman 100. Seeds took second.
