TRIUMPH INTRODUCES SCRAMBLER
1200 XC AND XE
T
he Triumph 1200 XC and XE
are the largest Scramblers
to date from the guys who es-
sentially created the modern
scrambler genre with the original
Scrambler 900 of 2006. It fea-
tures the same 1200cc parallel-
twin motor found in the Bonnev-
ille/Bobber, with power claimed
at a healthy 89 horsepower and
81 lb-ft of torque and will come
in two variants in the XC and a
more off-road focused XE.
The XE will get a longer rake
(26.9° versus 25.8°) for better
off-road performance, a Conti-
nental IMU that houses Corner-
ing ABS and lean-angle-sensitive
traction control, and an extra
'Off Road Pro' mode alongside
the five standard riding modes
the XC has.
Both bikes share the same
Showa forks, twin Ohlins
shocks, Brembo M50 brake
calipers, 21-inch front, and
17-inch rear tubeless wheels,
second-generation TFT dash,
LED lighting front and rear,
cruise control, keyless ignition,
a USB charging port, Triumph's
first turn-by-turn navigation
system and the XE also gets
hand guards and heated grips
as standard.
The new Triumph Scram-
bler 1200 tips the scales at
a claimed dry weight of 452
pounds for the base model
XC, with the 1200 XE version
gaining an extra four pounds for
456 pounds dry. No word yet
from Triumph North America as
to when we'll see the Scrambler
1200 here or the price. CN
