IN THE WIND P28 HAAKER WINS EVERETT ENDUROCROSS O nce again, the latest round of the 2018 EnduroCross Championship in Everett, Wash- ington, starred Colton Haaker and Cody Webb, as the two top riders in the championship battled for the victory. The Everett race came down to the last cou- ple of laps before it was ultimately decided, with Haaker (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) coming away with the exciting win. Haaker and Webb (FMF KTM) battled back and forth all race long with Webb holding the lead with just two laps to go. That's when Haaker made another attempt to get by the KTM rider and was successful. But the race wasn't over yet! Webb tried to get the lead back right away but instead fell in the rock section and saw Haaker ride off with the win. Webb got back going again to keep second place. It was Haaker's first victory at Everett. "I finally won Everett," Haaker said. "I have never won here, and I felt that tonight was critical for the championship because I didn't want next week to be a game-seven win-or-lose in Boise. The championship is not done but it's a little easier now. I knew it was getting close to the finish and Cody made a mistake com- ing out of the rocks. It was now or never so I committed to the double and he came over on me a little, but he backed out and, from there, I just needed one more clean lap." Along the way, Haaker had a run-in with Ty Tremaine, who was running third and being lapped by the Husqvarna rider. Tremaine went down and suffered a wrist injury that put him out of the race. "I am bummed about Ty [Tre- maine] getting hurt but, as we came to lap them, our lines just came together," Haaker said. Webb said, "That was tough for me to battle back and forth with Colton like that and this Endu- roCross is tough. It was a great race and a great show for the crowd. We got really close when he passed me on that double. I had to pull out of that and I pushed to the end but ended up crashing in the rocks. I am happy that I rode better than I did in Denver but, of course, I am not Colton Haaker leads Cody Webb at the Everett, Washington- round of the 2018 EnduroCross Championship. Haaker went on to win.
