FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 17 / OCTOBER 26-28, 2018
PHILLIP ISLAND / PHILLIP ISLAND, AUSTRALIA
P64
last lap, with a lone Xavier Simeon taking the last
point, the Reale Avintia Ducati rider's first in the
class, riding Rabat's GP17.
Australian Mike Jones rode to a steady 18th,
well behind Thomas Luthi (EG-VDS Honda) and
Jordi Torres (Reale Avintia Ducati) in his relief ride
on Abraham's Angel Nieto Ducati.
Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM) retired, blaming
a bad call on the Michelin rear tire lottery.
Marquez remains unassailable on 296 points;
but the battle for second is close. Dovizioso has
210, Rossi 195 and Vinales 180.
But Honda's hopes of an early triple crown took
a blow, with Ducati moving to within 39 points in
Danilo Petrucci (9) led into Turn
Two before his clutch packed up
and forced him off track.
