Renzland even went as far as enlisting
the help of Skip Norfolk, McGrath's
mechanic at the time, to wrench for
him at Straight Rhythm.
"I'm the rookie version of the The
King," said Renzland. "Before he
knew he was The King."
As for Catanzaro, he admitted he
didn't talk to James before heading to
Straight Rhythm in his likeness, but he
hopes Stewart enjoyed watching his
replica 125 go all the way to the final.
"Hopefully no lawsuits are coming
my way," said Catanzaro. "But hope-
fully James was watching on TV and
he appreciates it. By no means am
I trying to fill any shoes or take his
spot, but he was my hero growing up.
So [I wanted] to pay homage to him
and I think I did a decent job of that
tonight. That was fun." CN
