LETTENBICHLER GETS
THE GETZEN RODEO
Y
oung German rider Manny
Lettenbichler took a domi-
nant home victory at the Getzen
Rodeo extreme race in Bries-
bach, Germany. Lettenbichler
succeeded in dethroning Gra-
ham Jarvis at the event, and also
fended off the advances Alfredo
Gomez and Saturday's prologue
winner Taddy Blazusiak.
"Letti" quickly took control of
Sunday's main race, escaping
the pressure of Blazusiak after
the Polish rider suf-
fered a heavy crash
on the first lap. Go-
mez kept Letti honest
through to the finish,
but could not thwart
the young German.
Gomez claimed second ahead
of Blazusiak, who salvaged the
final podium position following
his crash. Sherco rider Mario
Roman took fourth overall ahead
of Husqvarna's Graham Jarvis.
The unique thing about the
Getzen Rodeo is that only hap-
pens every two years. Riders are
now looking ahead to 2020 for
the next running of the popular
German race. CN

Todd Kellett claimed a third straight
victory at the Weston Beach Race.
LOCAL HERO KELLETT TOPS
WESTON BEACH RACE
T
he HydroGarden Weston
Beach Race greeted 1000
racers to the shores of Weston-
super-Mare in Somerset, England
for the 36th running of the Hydro-
Garden Weston Beach Race pow-
ered by KTM. Local Somerset
racer Todd Kellett was victorious
once again at the infamous beach
race, besting pro riders such
as Husqvarna's Billy Bolt and
former GNCC champion David
Knight to take his third consecu-
tive win at the event.
Kellett took on the 4.3-mile
dune course, battling with Bolt
and Mel Pocock for the lead in
the early laps, but on lap five,
Kellett took control of the lead,
and held it to the finish aboard
his Verde Substance KTM. Ash-
ley Greedy and Billy Bolt round-
ed out the overall podium.
David Knight, aboard his SR75
World Team Suzuki, had an im-
pressive run, climing up through
the field to second after getting
stuck in the first turn. But the
three-hour race took its toll on
his nagging neck injury, which
eventually slowed him to sixth
place at the finish, though he still
claimed the 40+ class win.
Freestyle legend Robbie Mad-
dison tried his hand at the Beach
Race, but crashed with another
rider over the very first dune and
had to pit for repairs. He went on
to finish 91st. CN
