Eighth in race one, and ninth
in race two, it was hard for the
Yamaha that did not want to exit
corners as hard as it has done at
other circuits.
The Red Bull Honda team had
another of their torrid weekends,
as Leon Camier was 10th and
then a non-finisher, while Jake
Gagne had a fast fall in Saturday
and then a fine 10th place on
Sunday.
In the championship points
Rea has a dizzying 520, Davies
348, VDM 324, Sykes 294 and
Melandri 286.
WorldSSP
For a rider who has now won five
races in WorldSSP in 2018, find-
ing yourself overall second after
some other periods of bad luck
has been difficult to deal with
for Jules Cluzel (NRT Yamaha).
Especially when a crash from his
championship rival and points
leader Sandro Cortese (Kallio
Yamaha) in Portimao took a lot of
points away, after a collision with
his stricken machine.
WorldSSP will, once again, be
decided by a floodlit duel in the
desert at the final round in Lo-
sail, but this time the only two left
in it are separated by six points,
in Cortese's favor.
Cluzel needs some help from
the other riders, as today it was
only he and slow starter Cortese
out front.
Another Frenchman, Lucas
Mahias (GRT Yamaha) was third,
pushing hard for a podium fin-
ish, but ending up 3.7 seconds
down.
The final round will be a true
finale, with Cluzel and Cortese
going all-in to win.
