CHAMPIONSHIP
L
eon Haslam (Kawasaki)
clinched his first-ever Brit-
ish Superbike Championship at
a wet season finale at Brands
Hatch, October 13-14.
The veteran Brit, who will
move back into the WorldSBK
Championship as teammate
to Jonathan Rea in the factory
Kawasaki team next season,
took the title with a sixth-place
finish in race one at Brands. He
improved to take a win in race
two and rounded out the season
with a fourth place in race three.
"We have had some great
races and there are always good
last-lap battles. For me it's big
thanks to the team," Haslam
said.
"My second year with the
same team has really shown
credit, getting the most out of
the bike, understanding the bike
and just really, really enjoying it.
Like I say, it's a credit to them to
get the results that we got."
Race three was taken by
first-time BSB winner, Richard
Cooper on the Buildbase Suzuki
