SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY CUP MONSTER ENERGY CUP / OCTOBER 13, 2018 SAM BOYD STADIUM / LAS VEGAS, NEVADA P64 Racing the 2019 KX450, Tomac was dominant in the first two of the three main events, passing his new Monster En- ergy Kawasaki teammate Joey Savatgy early in the first main to take the win, then leading every lap of the second main. Then, with the pressure on going into the final main event of the night, off the start, Tomac got pinched off and came out midpack. With just 10 short laps, Tomac started pouring the coals onto the fire right away. At the halfway point, he was fifth, and he soon fought his way into second, behind Savatgy, with four laps to go, but Savatgy had a gap that Tomac had to absorb. On the final lap, Tomac was within striking dis- tance when Savatgy moved over and waved him by. Passed him or not, Tomac would've won the Monster En- ergy Cup, but not the million dol- lars had Savatgy held him at bay. (Though Tomac still would've col- lected $100,000 for taking the overall victory. You had to win all three to bag the million dollars.) "I was just full on," Tomac said of his performance in the final main event. "That was all there was to it. I mean, it was just wide open. I was making the passes and then it was just all the way to the end. This is just insane. Unbelievable."
