5 Every brand had a chance to shine in Ron Izard, here leading, rode his Cotton to 2nd in 250cc amateur class. WE't. Keeter, Balaam, Smith Top ACAces • After the second lap of the 250cc main event, the race was stopped because Keith Mashburn made a wide . swing to avoid hitting a fallen rider and was thrown over the fence at the south turn. As Keith flew over the fence, he hit the thigh muscle in his right leg, causing a very serious bruise. The event was restarted with John Bradford going ' ut in front and taking the corners in his typical broadside fashion, hotly pursued by De Wayne Keeter. On the second to last lap, John went a little too wide on the north turn and De Wayne was able to pass on the inside, putting Bradford into second place. Closely behind Bradford and in constant contention for second place was Ivan aden. The 100cc main event went to the A.C.A. 100cc champion, Johnny Balaam. Johnny led the entire event from the start and only a few times was contested by De Wayne Keeter. De Wayne was able to get by Johnny in the 100cc trophy dash and win this event, but was not quite able to do so in the main. In the 50cc main event, Keith Mashburn was able to beat the champion, Dave Smith after Dave led for several laps. Jim Doran finished third. riding a machine never seen on the track before, a Bennelli, wh ich appears to be very strong in the 50cc class. Smith was able to hold off the pressure of Mashburn and win the 50cc trophy dash. (Results on page 10) South Gate will run this Thursday, November 18th and then end with the South Gate Short Track Championship on Friday night Nov . 26th , weather permitting. BANQUET WELL ATTENDED The A.C.A. annual awards banquet was held on November 13th at the Palms Restaurant where the awards were given and the points fund was distributed to the deserving riders. The evening was quite pleasurable with over 135 riders present. A recap of the past year as well as the future for the A.C.A. in 1966 was discussed. Officials tore the bike down and it checked out ok. Elevenyear-old Fred Biscoe entered on a trail bike. He finished the race. (More Photos on page 7 .results on page 10).
