W H A T Y O U A R E S A Y I N G "It would appear that we have come full circle and, once again, are trying to figure out a way to be competitive with the GP riders." Motocross of Nations I was there all weekend. The rain was not really a factor on the track. Kudos to the track crew that made an amazing track under the worst condi- tions. The weather impacted the 81,000 fans in attendance far more than it did team USA. Even though we got our butts totally kicked, the international fans and FIM made for the best event I've ever attended. By the third moto, the track was awesome. The USA and the AMA riders, if you count Roc- zen, were just not competitive. I've ridden and followed moto since the early 70s and it would appear that we have come full circle and, once again, are trying to figure out a way to be competitive with the GP riders. There is no other excuse other than the MXGP riders/series is just that much better. Wayne Schmieder Wow! This is almost as bad as USA in MotoGP. Jerry Carlson Mud race, not the Americans' strongpoint. Doug Brown Empire Of Dirt: Contact Sports Zach Osborne's performance [at the 2017 Las Vegas Supercross] was iconic. He was on the ground for what seemed like 10 seconds while the rest of the field was on the other side of the stadium. He went for broke and won. In all honesty, if this was for a typical race podium, then I per- sonally would have thought that it was over the top. For the cham- pionship, he had to do it and it is acceptable for me, personally. However, in my possibly hyp- ocritical opinion, what Tomac was doing to Dungey that night was a bit shady. Tomac could have won easily and let the rest of the field play out. Dungey had several opportunities to punt Tomac after being rammed but he didn't. For me, that cement- ed his legacy of a true ambas- sador of sportsmanship. I guess the difference, to me, is having to come from behind, compared trying to knock down the guy who's behind you. Brad Kawamura That was a shame—waiting for a guy so you can get dirty. Thanks for the reminder; I had forgotten why I don't like ET. Dan Connolly Straight Rhythm Program Would it be possible to get a copy of the Red Bull Straight Rhythm publication? CN broad- ened my world as a teenager and helped me find like-minded souls that introduced me to Sidewind- ers, Castle Rock and Washou- gal, and the Burn (Tillamook). Cycle News kept me up to date on my hobby before there was ESPN, Speed Channel, and the Internet. You now come in a different mailbox, but I still enjoy it. P.S. Coming back from Medford, Oregon, on a flight years back, I ran into a gentle- men reading the latest edition of Cycle News and I commented that he must get his early, as it was too soon in the week to normally get one. Turns out, he worked for Cycle News and I mentioned I was a long-time subscriber. After we got air- borne the stewardess brought me his CN so, once again, you guys are top notch. Thanks.
