VOL. 55 ISSUE 40 OCTOBER 9, 2018 P41 REDDING OFF TO BSB S cott Redding's MotoGP career is officially over after confirmation the former Moto2 Championship runner-up will switch to the British Superbike Championship for 2019. The current Gresini Aprilia MotoGP rider will be on board a Be Wiser Ducati Panigale V4 run by Paul Bird in place of six-time BSB champion, Shane Byrne, who suffered serious injuries in a testing crash earlier this year that look likely to end his racing career. "It's fantastic to be coming to BSB; it's a championship I've never raced in and learning the circuits is very much part of the challenge which I'm looking forward to," Redding said. "This is very exciting for me with a very competitive bike and the most successful team and I'm here to show what I can do. MotoGP is tough and without the correct packages, it's hard to win, but BSB is at such a high level, I want to prove I'm capable of winning." There has been no word yet as to Redding's teammate, as current Be Wiser Ducati rider Glenn Irwin will switch to the JG Speedfit Ka- wasaki team in place of WorldSBK-bound 2019 champion elect, Leon Haslam. CN Scott Redding will have a factory bike under him when he switches to BSB next year. JACOBSEN SPLITS FROM TRIPLE M WORLDSBK TEAM A merican PJ Jacobsen has announced he and the Triple M WorldSBK team have parted ways for the remainder of the WorldSBK season. With just one top-10 finish to their credit, Jacobsen and Triple M mutually decided to dissolve the partnership ahead of the final two WorldSBK rounds at Argentina and Qatar. "Thanks to the Triple M Honda World Su- perbike Team for giving me the opportunity to compete in the WorldSBK championship this season," Jacobsen said. "We tried hard, but unfortunately things didn't work out as we had planned so we agreed to go our separate ways. I wish them all the best for the remainder of the season and the future." Jacobsen's place at Triple M will be taken by Stock1000 rider Florian Marino. CN It's been a rough year for PJ Jacobsen, and now he's out of a WorldSBK ride.
