T
he Motocross of Nations has been held
on U.S. soil four times now, beginning in
1987 at Unadilla, where Ricky Johnson,
Jeff Ward and Bob Hannah (on a 125!) took
home the victory for Team USA in the mud.
Then came Budds Creek in 2007, 20 years
later, where Ricky Carmichael, Ryan Villopoto
and Timmy Ferry took home the victory for
Team USA, followed in 2010 by Thunder Valley
in Lakewood, Colorado, where Ryan Dungey,
Trey Canard and Andrew Short brought home
the Chamberlin Trophy for Team USA. This
Straight
weekend's RedBud Motocross of Nations was
the fourth time the event had been held on
U.S. soil, and the first time Team USA hasn't
managed to bring home the victory.
Instead, it was much-maligned Team France
who scored their fifth MXoN victory in succes-
sion. France rose to the occasion when it was
necessary, likely motivated by the criticism the
team received for not picking 2018 RedBud
AMA 450MX National winner Marvin Musquin
to represent his country at the event.
"I'm happy about today because I did a great
ride," said Team France captain Gautier Paulin,
who is the only racer who has been on every
winning French MXoN team the past five years.
