as with the championship fight
now definitely over, he has to
try to hang onto second place
overall, through Argentina and
finally Qatar.
He battled hard in race one,
on a less cooperative bike than
Sunday's, and finished fifth.
Importantly he was two places
ahead of Michael van der Mark
(Pata Yamaha WorldSBK) on
Saturday and one podium place
ahead of him on Sunday.
Rea, Davies and van der Mark
made up the race-two podium,
with Rea, Sykes and a resurgent
top independent rider, Xavi Fores
(Barni Racing) the race-one trio.
In the championship fight, with
Rea untouchable now, the new
world champion has 470 points,
Davies has 335, van der Mark
309, Sykes 273 and Melandri
250.
